Congratulation to the following college students that have received a Dessie Massey Memorial Scholarship for 2019-2020 – Samantha Cannon and Kenadi Nichols. Please keep these young women in your prayers as they study for this school year. This is the 18th year the Dessie Massey Memorial Scholarships have been given to students by New Salem United Methodist Church. These scholarships are made possible by the kind gift of one of our former faithful members of the past, Dessie Massey. Her gift, set-up as a $50,000 endowment along with funds that have been donated in honor or memory of individuals, provides scholarship monies for our students long into the future. This year, and most years, the amount of each full scholarship is $500. students may apply for the undergraduate scholarships for four years. Since the inception of the Dessie Massey Scholarship Endowment, a total of 156 scholarships have been awarded to 57 students who have attended 27 area colleges/universities for a total of of $73,250. Donna Franklin, Sue Little, Robert McKaig, and Sarah Moore serve on the Dessie Massey Memorial Scholarship Committee.
